Yarn bombing is just awesome. It’s colorful, friendly, and never fails to make me smile. I’ve always been a big fan of public art, especially the kind that is unexpected or a life hack (ie yarn bombing a subway seat makes the ride more comfortable). The juxtaposition of your grandmother’s hobby craft and an urban environment, besides the fact that most yarn bombing is done by a younger generation of knitters and crocheters, makes for a fantastic blend in our current culture. Yarn bombing is graffiti that totally enhances our environment.
Agata Oleksiak is an artist at the forefront of this graffiti trend. She has been yarn bombing New York since 2003. Check out her site and enjoy!
