Not only did I have a piece in the Art All Night event in Trenton, but I ran a booth at the Giralda Music and Arts Festival in Morristown. Plus, the ox for the Stampede is now in my living room. Busy busy busy!
Festival recap: sold a couple of hand dyed shibori silk scarves and onesies. Definitely need to leave the turkeys and pelvises home at this point (three tries and no one is buying, but they do make people laugh!). The music was nice and the weather was great. Met two lovely people at the booth next to mine. It was nice chatting with folks my own age at one of these events. Shout out to Kevin Eberle – check out his beautiful photography! PS – need to make more scarves and onesies for next time since they sell well and they are REALLY fun to make.
Ox update: So this huge sucker is in my living room. My daughter points at and talks to it on occasion. I’ve been playing with an indigo vat for over a week using the unbleached cotton muslin I’ll be covering the ox with. I’m getting decent results with my experimentation. I’ll be using a variety of shibori techniques – pole binding, stitching, rubber bands with stones, etc. It’s due at the end of July, so I’m gearing up!
